Homestay Program:
Our homestay program is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in Canadian culture. Carefully placed with local families, this program helps you not only learn about Canadian life but also refine your English language skills. Your host family will provide daily breakfast, packed lunch, and dinner while assisting you in exploring Ottawa and its surroundings. Starting in a homestay is also an excellent way to find an affordable place in the city, especially considering Ottawa’s housing market. You’ll get to know the city, make friends, and explore other accommodation options before finding your own apartment or shared living space.

For students under the age of 19 when arriving for their studies, the Province of Ontario may require that you have a custodian who will look after and support you. Our homestay program can help you meet these requirements, ensuring that your host family also serves as your custodian. However, custodianship may not be mandatory for students who are 18 and applying for University Transfer/Associate Degree programs.

Start Your Carleton University Journey:
At Carleton University, we understand that your housing choice is a pivotal part of your overall experience. Whether you choose on-campus housing, off-campus living, or a homestay program, we are here to support you in every step of your housing journey.
