If you’ve pursued a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) major, you could extend your OPT to 36 months. During this time, you not only gain valuable work experience but also earn a salary, setting you on a path to financial independence.

One of the remarkable aspects of OPT is the flexibility it offers. You have the right to choose when you embark on your OPT journey. You can opt for it immediately after earning your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, or you can decide to pursue it later. The choice is yours.

You can transfer to a university or institution of your choice, typically starting with your Freshman and Sophomore years (Years 1 and 2 of the Bachelor’s program) before transferring to a four-year university for your Junior and Senior years (Years 3 and 4).
